Wakayama prefecture Wakayama
capital was in southern Osaka in the Kansai region. Since ancient times,
Wakayama called the "land of trees" because the area is filled with
forests and mountains (about 70% is a mountainous region). Valleys and mountains
of Wakayama Prefecture is home to Buddhist temples and Shinto are important,
including Mount Koya and Kumano three Shinto shrine. Mount Koya is the center
of the Shingon sect of Buddhism. Wakayama are the biggest cemetery in Japan.
Wakayama is also known for its fertile soil and natural hot spring baths.

Mount Koya (Koyasan) located in Wakayama. This area provide
comfort, especially because this area was packed with temples of Shingon
Buddhism. Mount Koya is a tourist destination that is easily accessible.
Available every day trains departing from Osaka Namba Station in Osaka city
towards Gokurakubashi station at the foot of Mount Koya. There are three kinds
of trains available to get there. There is a classy limited express (80 minutes
drive), express (trips 100 minutes), and local. Each class has a different
price and travel time are different.
After arriving at the station
Gokurakubashi, followed by a trip up the cable car to get to Koyasan Station.
This trip takes only about 10 minutes.
The best time to go to Mount Koya

Okunoin
At Mount Koya there is a dwelling
place of one of the most recognizable person in the history of confidence in
Japan. Okunoin is one of the most famous and sacred Mount Koya. The bodies of
Kobo Daishi, or more commonly known as Kukai, a monk founder of Shingon
Buddhism is stored on the mountain. In addition, Okunoin is also the largest
tomb complex in Japan, which makes it one of the most popular pilgrimage place
in Japan. To go to Okunoin from Koyasan Station by bus only takes about 20
minutes.
Shrine Kongobuji the central temple of the Shingon Buddhism
teachings that dominated the area of Koyasan. Highly recommended to visit this
place in the fall because it will certainly be much more beautiful. In order to
enjoy the beauty of its architecture and relax in the zen garden, it is better
if you come Kongobuji in the morning.
Danjo Garan region can be described as a center Koyasan, which
opened Kukai (aka Kobo Daishi) as a place for training secret flow of Shingon
Buddhism. Two of the most prominent buildings in the area are Danjo Garan Kondo
hall and Konpon Daito Pagoda, which is a very large pagoda as high as 45
meters.
Castle Wakayama (Wakayama-jo) was built in 1585 on the orders of
Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The castle now serves as a symbol of Wakayama City. Castle
region which has about 600 cherry trees is also a popular place to enjoy the
cherry blossoms in the spring. Momijidani park located within the castle also
offers spectacular scenery in the autumn.
To get here you just have to walk
about 10 minutes from Nankai Station Nakayama.
Kumano area known as the "holy land where the gods live"
and is one of two pilgrimage places are included in the UNESCO World Heritage
Site in addition to the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Kumano are "Kumano
Sanzan", three famous Shinto shrine; Supreme Shinto Shrine Kumano Hongu,
Shinto Shrine Hayatama Court, and the Supreme Shinto Shrine Kumano Nachi. In

Japan. Yuminome Onsen including as a UNESCO world heritage site. Kawayu onsen
hot springs is quite unique because of the hot springs that emerged after
digging on the banks of the river. Wataze Onsen is a hot spring that has one
rotenburo (open-air bath) style garden is one of the largest in Western Japan.
